Which editing software can I export FlashCut edits to?

Adobe Premiere Pro through XML, and Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve through FCPXML. FlashCut prepares the rough cut and hands off a timeline that references your original footage. It does not export to Avid Media Composer today.

Does exporting copy or re-encode my footage?

Not for XML or FCPXML. Those exports reference your original files, so they are near-instant and your source media is untouched. Only the MP4 export renders a new video file. Your editor may ask you to relink media when you first open an XML or FCPXML.

Do exports count toward my plan limits?

Only rendered MP4 exports do. Each distinct version of your edit counts once, and downloading an identical version again is free. Premiere Pro XML, FCPXML and SRT exports do not use the video-export allowance. See the pricing page for each plan’s limit.

What an XML or FCPXML export contains

Premiere Pro XML and FCPXML carry your cut as a timeline that points at your original video files. FlashCut does not copy or re-encode media for these exports, which is why they finish almost instantly and why your source files stay exactly as they were.

Because the timeline references files on disk, your editing software may ask you to relink media the first time you open it. Point it at the original footage and the cut plays as it did in FlashCut.

When to export MP4 instead

Export MP4 when you want a finished video to share, upload or send for approval without opening an editing application. MP4 is rendered, so it takes longer than an XML export, and it is the one export that counts toward your plan’s video-export allowance. Each distinct version counts once; downloading an identical version again is free.

What FlashCut does not export

FlashCut does not export to Avid Media Composer today. If your finishing happens in Avid, export an MP4 for review or an SRT for captions, and rebuild the cut there. In the app, as of September 2026, the four formats above are the complete list.
